Bentonite Clay
Renowned for its strong absorptive powers, bentonite clay sucks up deep-rooted impurities that cause your skin to look bumpy. Unclogging pores and drawing debris to the surface, bentonite is a volcanic clay that has been used for centuries as a powerful but gentle skincare ingredient.
Kaolin clay
Kaolin clay—bentonite's bestie— absorbs excess oil without parching your skin. The minerals in kaolin clay are able to eliminate impurities that build up in + around the hair follicle, balance the overproduction of oil and deeply cleanse skin. A fierce antimicrobial, kaolin fights active breakouts by dialing down irritation and working with niacinamide to calm redness.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Another talented antimicrobial that eases irritation, ACV buddies up with mineral-rich bentonite and kaolin clays to unclog pores more efficiently. This mild acid, when used overtime, can also help to restore the pH balance of your skin.
Salicylic acid (BHA)
Unlike other exfoliating acids, salicylic is a deep-diving BHA that’s able to wiggle inside pores to dislodge dirt and lift + impurities. With use overtime, sal acid is a superior ingredient for eliminating blackheads for good, and in combination with mineral-rich clays and sulfur is able to block future breakouts from forming.
Sulfur
A (frankly underrated!) antimicrobial that sloughs the top layer of skin to accelerate cell turnover and encourages new skin to take its place. A concentration gentle enough for sensitive skin types, sulfur also nixes impurities from within the pore. Consider her salicylic acid’s half-cyster :)
Trio of AHAs
Whereas salicylic acid (BHA) does its work within the pore, lactic, tartaric + malic acids tackle the skin’s surface. These refining agents exfoliate surface skin to retexturize, smoothing bumpy areas and improving skin tone and consistency.
Niacinamide
Niacinamide works with the natural substances in your skin to shrink the appearance of redness, soothe breakouts and improve the appearance of uneven skin tone. Your skin's calm, logical, level-headed friend, niacinamide can also help to repair signs of damage.
Jojoba esters
Clay, when not paired with nourishing ingredients, can dry out the skin and strip its natural oils. Jojoba steps in to negate the drying effects to support your skin barrier during masking. An emollient that prevents overdrying and retains hydration during masking and after your rinse-off, Jojoba is non-comedogenic which means it doesn’t clog pores.
This product lives up to its name. I use this mask about once a week since getting it and immediately after rinsing it off pores look visibly smaller, my face feels fresh like it’s just been purged of all its uncleanliness. My only critique is the residual smell that remains on your face after. I’ve gotten used to it but it might be helpful to share.
I bought the Pore Vac to help with texture and acne (although most of my acne is cystic/hormonal so low expectations there). I have very VERY sensitive skin that is quick to react poorly to many acids and my history with clay masks is not a happy one… until now! My skin reacted well to this mask: there was no redness, stinging or burning at; in fact, my redness was reduced. I was pleased with how soft and hydrated my face felt after washing off the mask (I use water and a face cloth). I’m a busy mom so I don’t have time to use this as often as I would like, but I can tell that 1-2 times a week would really help with my skin texture.
What I typically use this mask for is spot treatments: when I have a small zit that is too insignificant to use a Killa patch, I put a very small amount of Pore Vac on a Q-tip, apply a thin layer over the zit, and let it sit overnight. The zit is always noticeably reduced or even gone the next morning! I don’t experience any irritation from the spot treatment, either, which is a relief.
There is a good amount of product in the tube; this will last me months for sure! If you use it as a mask every 2-3 days you might go through it faster, but you do not need a thick layer so you should still get many uses before it runs out. I recommend the Pore Vac!
One of the best clay masks available. Exquisite ingredients, high-quality texture and great results. I think it would also be great for oily/sweaty body parts (underarms, chest, abs, thighs, etc.)
Great little extra to add to my routine when I feel breakouts coming. Skin looks smooth and feels clean but not dry.
